I think he's gonna open up the offense for them a little bit.

If Kevin Love stays another year, they are easily a championship favorite.Trey Joneshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02226461237122364661noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6164459820264708376.post-75023196757040203822007-08-31T03:13:00.000-05:002007-08-31T03:13:00.000-05:00Bayless isn't on the Jennings/Rose/Gordon level, b...Bayless isn't on the Jennings/Rose/Gordon level, but he can be a worse version of Jason Terry for them. As for UCLA, from what I hear, Lee is the purest point of those three.Ty Keenanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17017621898637884658noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6164459820264708376.post-71564281298955886072007-08-30T18:01:00.000-05:002007-08-30T18:01:00.000-05:00Arizona should be better; Great, not so much. Honestly, and I'm just judging from the few high school all-star games I saw of him, but I'm not that high on Jerryd Bayless.

I saw him force too many horrible shots, struggle getting past defenders, and even get ripped (badly) at half court by either Derrick Rose or Eric Gordon. I think he's going to benefit greatly from Brandon Jennings arrival in '08.

Wazzou is going to put up major points, but I don't think they're going to sneak up on anybody this year outside of a few non-conference non-believers.

The Pac-10 is going to heavy for a while. UCLA's '08 class is crazy. I'm interested to see who handles the rock though. Is it Holiday, Lee, or Anderson?Trey Joneshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02226461237122364661noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6164459820264708376.post-61780824964457274142007-08-30T17:01:00.000-05:002007-08-30T17:01:00.000-05:00I'm really down on Lute's coaching ability of late...I'm really down on Lute's coaching ability of late--his team's haven't met their potential since the Arenas years. Shakur was frustrating as all hell, but I'm not sure a freshman combo guard (albeit a really awesome one) is gonna make anything better. I also think people are going overboard on Budinger. Wazzou I really like; they might suffer a bit of a letdown, but that system will work as long as they have good players. They're going to miss Ivory Clark more than people realize, though; he was a solid glue guy and their best frontcourt athlete. U-Dub I expect to be better but finish with the same record. They had a crisis of identity last year--it's a guard team, not a bigs team.

I could write a ton about Stanford, but I'll leave it at this: everything comes down to the point. We get even solid play there and we have a chance to go very deep.

Don't sleep on Cal, either. Braun can't coach offense for shit, but they have real players.Ty Keenanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17017621898637884658noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6164459820264708376.post-67526054387116046872007-08-30T16:43:00.000-05:002007-08-30T16:43:00.000-05:00I meant to say "also" instead of "almost" there. Y...I meant to say "also" instead of "almost" there.

You can't forget about Arizona (who should be better now that the Mustafa Shakur rollercoaster Era is through), Washington St (who surprised last year), Washington (even without Hawes), and I'm looking forward to seeing what your Cardinal are going to do with the Lopez twins back.

I tried to be objective, but UCLA is going to kill USC this year, and next.

What the fuck is "garnet"?Trey Joneshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02226461237122364661noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6164459820264708376.post-18288215824144437682007-08-30T15:21:00.000-05:002007-08-30T15:21:00.000-05:00"It almost validates the Pac-10, which has taken a..."It almost validates the Pac-10, which has taken a hit as soft conference with only 2-3 top teams."

That reputation was well-earned up until last year. For my first few years of school (I finished undergrad last year), the Pac-10 was a joke. Last year, though, it was one of the two best conference in the country, and it's not going to be close this year. The league is stacked--no one can compete with the depth, and it's not like there aren't legit contenders, either.

As for USC/UCLA, Howland turned them around much faster than I thought he would. I'm fucking terrified. They're going to maul USC for the foreseeable future.

Also, your "red and gold" bit made me laugh, because, as any ridiculous USC fan will tell you, it's "garnet," not red. Whatever the hell color that is.Ty Keenanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17017621898637884658noreply@blogger.com
